ORIGINAL "HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR" CARRIAGE FROM "THE WIZARD OF OZ" (1939)
Original 1939 "Horse of a Different Color" carriage from the classic “Wizard of Oz" film. This horse-drawn carriage was used in literally 199 Golden-era Hollywood movies (including John Wayne’s last film), and forever remembered ferrying Dorothy (Judy Garland), Tin Man (Jack Haley), Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), and Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) to the Emerald City by the Cabby (Frank Morgan).
Considering the age of this carriage, the overall condition can be assessed as "Excellent," and screen-matched in several significant scenes in the film (see attached images), and with exception to reupholstering the seats remains original, According to the original provenance, it was first owned by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, and used during the Civil War.
We are currently open to reviewing offers, and the majority of proceeds from this sale will be allocated towards an endowment for the Judy Garland, Children's Discovery Museum' expansion.
